As I live alone, I am allowed the freedom
to create at will, to live the dream
most men would cringe at...
derelict decorating.
Worn and weathered is the old home I live in,
though, not as elegant as these,
it is still my studio of life...
where I sleep with dogs
and worry not of crumbling plaster
and creaking stairs and
things that go bump in the night...
home!
This is just one of the things that make us kindred spirits......I love the walls in the first photo. Why can't someone come to my house and paint that for me?????

ReplyDeleteDerelict Decorating is something I too am mysteriously drawn to like a Moth to a Flame! Most people don't 'get it' or the attraction to benign neglect, which most seem to shun but which I wholly embrace and prefer. If I lived alone I would want to discover some totally abandoned building with good bones and create the dream Home to showcase Derelict Decorating Style. This old House we live in was condemned when we bought it but over the years it has transformed into less than derelict now, where it is acceptable to most and appropriate to raise a young Family in {we're Custodial G-Parents & Social Services would never understand raising children in the appearance of derelict surroundings, LOL} ... but as for me, personally, the more deteriorated and aged something is the more I adore it! So its refreshing to find Kindred Spirits that feel the same about this Style which may be eclectic and some find to be eccentric, but is so very ME to the Core!

derelict decorating has character...something lacking in buying things at places like Home Goods...it just doesn't seem the same... Great pics!! :)
